  • Optimisation of drainage and irrigation systems
  • Use of renewable energy in agriculture through RES installations (agrivoltaics, biogas plants and wind turbines in agricultural systems)

AGROSTRATEG – who is it for?

The AGROSTRATEG programme is aimed at research organisations and universities, entrepreneurs from the agri-food sector, and science–industry consortia that combine academic and business expertise in joint R&D projects. At the same time, the programme enables the active involvement of farmers and industry organisations as end users and direct beneficiaries of research outcomes, so that the developed solutions address real market needs and are ready for implementation.

AGROSTRATEG – what level of support and funding is available?

Financial support under the programme will be granted from NCBR targeted subsidies, and the funding intensity will vary depending on the applicant category and the type of R&D activities carried out (e.g. industrial research or experimental development).

How can we help you with the Agrostrateg project?

At Agri Solutions (FarmPortal & FarmCloud), we can support the AGROSTRATEG project in four areas:

1. Preparing the research agenda and submitting the project

We help define the research agenda, the scope of R&D work, task packages, milestones, project indicators and Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), as well as develop an implementation and commercialisation plan aligned with NCBR requirements and the realities of the agri-food sector.

2. Developing R&D topics in Agriculture 4.0 and digital technologies

We bring R&D competencies in AI/ML, computer vision and image processing, remote sensing, geolocation (GNSS/RTK), Big Data analytics, predictive and scoring models, digital twins (Digital Twin), decision support systems, data interoperability, and IoT integration (LoRaWAN, MQTT, edge computing, ISOBUS/ISO-XML, CAN-BUS).

3. Subcontracting (R&D and implementations)

We can act as a subcontractor delivering specific R&D and implementation tasks—we have extensive experience in agricultural R&D projects and in building and testing solutions ready for pilot deployments and scaling.

4. Consortium member

We can participate in a consortium as a technology partner, responsible for data architecture, system integration, AI components, the digital part of the project, and preparing a technology demonstrator and commercialisation pathway based on FarmPortal and FarmCloud.

Our experience in R&D projects for agriculture

We have documented experience in delivering research and development (R&D) projects for the agri-food sector, co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and regional and European funds. Our work focuses on the digitisation of agriculture, Agriculture 4.0 and 5.0, data analytics, AI, remote sensing, system interoperability, and the integration of IoT and agricultural machinery. The projects covered both industrial research and development work, concluding with pilots and deployments for farms, processors and value-chain partners, with a strong emphasis on commercialisation, scalability and real-world application of technology in agricultural practice.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

1. What is the AGROSTRATEG program and what is its goal?

AGROSTRATEG is a strategic R&D program of the National Centre for Research and Development focused on innovations in the agri-food sector, including precision agriculture, fertilizer reduction, soil monitoring, production digitalization, and strengthening the farm-to-fork value chain.

2. What thematic areas does AGROSTRATEG cover?

The program covers four areas: sustainable plant production, animal production, digital agriculture (Agriculture 4.0), and innovative agricultural techniques, including remote sensing, geolocation, AI, Big Data, and resource management.

3. Who is the AGROSTRATEG program intended for?

The program is intended for research organizations, universities, agri-food companies, and scientific-industrial consortia, with the possibility of involving farmers and industry organizations as end users.

4. What is the level of funding and support?

Funding comes from targeted grants from the National Centre for Research and Development, and the level of support depends on the type of applicant and the type of work. Details are specified in the call documentation.

5. Which projects have the highest chances of success?

Projects with high implementation potential (TRL 6–9) are rated highest, including AI, soil and water monitoring, data interoperability, traceability, and digital production management.
