FarmPortal in the EIT Food Test Farms 2025 Programme – We’re Starting a Pilot on an Italian Organic Farm!

We are proud to announce that our team has been selected for the prestigious EIT Food Test Farms 2025 programme. This season we will work side‑by‑side with an Italian organic producer to test advanced Agriculture 4.0 modules on a real‑life farm—from IoT sensors to AI algorithms that recommend irrigation and crop protection.

What is Test Farms?

Test Farms is EIT Food’s flagship initiative that matches outstanding ag‑tech start‑ups with farmers across Europe. The programme provides:

  • Access to demonstration farms – a real environment to validate technology.
  • Mentoring from EIT Food experts and technical support.
  • Visibility among European agri‑food partners and investors.

Thanks to this, we gain direct feedback from practitioners and a springboard for faster commercialisation of our solutions on the Italian market.

What will we test in Italy?

  • Irrigation recommendation system – our proprietary algorithms + data from local weather stations.
  • Disease alerts & crop assistant – early warning of infection risk and automated action suggestions.
  • Remote crop condition monitoring – NDVI, LAI and water‑stress analytics from satellites and drones.
  • Integrated IoT sensors – soil‑moisture probes, agricultural weather stations, leaf spectrometers.
  • Machine telematics – ISOBUS and CAN‑bus devices to track tractor work and treatment efficiency.

All data will feed into FarmPortal, and we will compare results with the organic farm’s current practices.

Why is this a breakthrough for Agri Solutions?

  • Entering foreign markets – the only Polish AI‑powered agri‑tech application to be deployed in Italian agriculture.
  • International validation – new climate conditions, different varieties and certified organic production.
  • Position as a technology partner in the EIT Food ecosystem – opening doors to more EU countries.

The Italian market – why there?

Italy is the European leader in organic production—organic acreage reached 2.46 million ha in 2024 (up 4.5 % YoY). It also boasts the highest agricultural value added in the EU€42.4 billion in 2024, around 18 % of the entire EU market.

Such a mature yet innovative sector needs precise digital tools, and FarmPortal fills that gap perfectly: it reduces water consumption, optimises fertilisation and simplifies ESG/BIO reporting.
